I've recently discovered smoothies.
In the past few weeks, I've been experimenting with smoothies in anticipation for my upcoming 10K run. (I'll be sharing more about it shortly.)
I'm trying to increase my energy levels. I find what I eat directly affects my ability to have a good run, but I'm not always hungry and if I eat a lot of food, I tend to suffer from running cramps.
I thought smoothies might help. I have been so pleasantly surprised.
I've been working with different ingredients and experimenting to get the consistency just right, and I am so excited to share some of my recipes with you over the course of the next few months!
Banana kale smoothie
I made this smoothie the other day.
Its packed full of healthy fats, potassium and vitamins B6 + C. It's also high in protein, which is really helping me during my runs this week!

1/2 an avocado
1 cup of cashew milk
hand full of hemp seeds
4 large kale leaves
1/2 cup of frozen mango
1/2 cup of strawberries
The directions for this recipe are so simple.
Simply combine all of the ingredients together and blend until smooth.
I topped my smoothie with pea shoots.
You could easily add sunflower seeds, greek yogurt and oatmeal and turn this smoothie into a smoothie bowl.
