Lalogy Moisturizer - The Hangover

the hangover

I’ve been looking forward to blogging about this product for weeks now.

And I feel like it’s the perfect time of year...

Because it’s two days following an indulgent meal and a plethora of red wine - i.e. thanksgiving - and my skin is definitely feeling dehydrated from all of the recent partying activities!

I knew I loved this product almost immediately, but I try really hard to stick to my editorial guidelines, so I couldn’t promote it until three weeks after receiving it and using it regularly.

It’s safe to say that The Hangover by Lalogy is my absolute favourite day cream right now.

I use it every single morning.

Allow me to explain...

behind the brand

Lalogy is a natural skincare company based out of Los Angeles, California.

I’m not-so-secretly jealous of their year-round sunny location!

I love clean beauty.  Of course I do.

The only problem is, I struggle with the often alienating gap between feel-good skincare and actual results - especially when I find myself testing products that smell and look amazing but are generally ineffective due to the lack of science behind them.

I like that Lalogy makes chemistry a huge priority in their product formulations.

They consistently work with highly sought after chemists, reputable aestheticians, herbalists and organic farms to ensure their formulations are unique, different and on-par with luxury, niche and mass markets.

Lalogy is committed to producing highly effective anti-aging products.

This is extremely important to me, because as I get older, I become more and more concerned with not only the general protection of my skin, but with the maintenance of it as well.

clean chemical beauty

I’ve often wondered about the role of chemical beauty in the clean beauty industry.

And how it will evolve...

I’m talking about the creation and production of natural products that can actually hold a candle to more intense dermatological anti-aging procedures like laser, chemical peels, as well as injectables and really potent exfoliators.

I’ve noticed this frustration looming on the horizon for a while now...

After all, it's one thing to use clean makeup on perfect, teenage skin.

As Creative Director and Editor In Chief of my own online magazine, we did a lot of professional beauty editorials.  And when casting a model, if we could find a 13 or 14 year old girl who photographed like a 25 year old woman, it was icing on the cake - especially from a business perspective.

Casting younger models for beauty editorials means your beauty team doesn’t have to spend as much time prepping the model.  It also means your photographer or professional re-toucher doesn’t have nearly as much post-production editing to do on your final images.

And this of course, is kind of a trade secret.

Everything you do on a beauty shoot costs money - from the studio rental where you work to the gear and lighting your photographer uses to the meal you feed the team on their lunch break.

It’s generally insensitive, not at all what consumers want and kind of ridiculous.

I completely agree.

Thinking younger is better has been a pretty standard practice in the beauty industry for a long time.

And I don’t just mean from a marketing perspective.

I’ve learned about the frustrations a lot of women face when choosing natural products, because they don’t always have perfect skin to begin with.

In fact, a lot of women are struggling tremendously with their skin.

Your makeup is only as good as the canvas you’re working on.  The state of your skin dictates virtually every aspect of how good your makeup looks, and also how well it wears.

So, it’s safe to say skincare is pretty important.

I think we’re going to see a big shift in how we approach natural anti-aging remedies.

Because in the end, they have to work.

the perfect daytime moisturizer

This is why I love The Hangover.

It is THE perfect daytime moisturizer for several reasons.

It uses pomegranate and seabuckthorn oils which produce a unique, bright yellow colour.  This aspect of the moisturizer helps to even out redness - making this product a perfect morning makeup base.

When you first open the product, the unique scent immediately captures your attention.

At first, I was a little overwhelmed by it.

The more I use it though, the more I became totally addicted and now I look forward to the smell every morning.  It’s actually the perfect scent to wake up to because it’s refreshing and invigorating.

Lalogy uses extremely therapeutic essential oils like lavender, chamomile and helichrysum to calm irritated and inflamed skin.  This moisturizer is super high performance while still being gentle and lightweight.

It immediately sinks into the skin, leaving almost nothing behind.

Just pure, balanced moisture.

And finally, this is where the chemistry comes in.

Lalogy uses nano-weight technology, organic nettle and clinically proven peptides - all combined together to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  It plumps the skin and increases overall firmness.

And it really does make all the difference!

my final thoughts

I test a lot of beauty products.

The only products that make it onto this blog are products that work for me, and stand out from the rest.

Lalogy is a company I can easily get behind and support.

They not only create beautiful skincare products that actually work to improve the health of your skin, but they’ve also been an amazing team to work with.

They care about their customers.

One of the aspects that gets me excited about Lalogy is their belief in refrigerated skincare.

They believe that every product they create is alive and fresh. The primary function of refrigeration is to extend the potency and efficacy of Lalogy’s organic ingredients.

It’s not necessary to preserve the product, but I have noticed a difference in how the moisturizer behaves.  Not only that, but when you apply a cool, calming moisturizer first thing in the morning, there is just something special about that ritual.

The Hangover just feels better on the skin when it's refrigerated.

If you’re looking for a daily moisturizer to wear underneath your makeup, this one is definitely a good choice.

I cannot recommend this product - and Lalogy - enough.
