Blood Orange Cleansing Balm
This stuff is good.
Like... I could potentially throw out all of my other night-time cleansers - kinda good.
In general, I'm a huge fan of balms. Mostly because I'm super duper lazy when it comes to washing my face at night and my skin is really dry.
When I'm working from home I rarely wear makeup, so I always feel like there's little to do.
I used cleansing wipes for the longest time. I loved travelling with them and I still love having them in my kit. I was obsessed with Korres Pomegranate Cleansing + Makeup Removing Wipes and then I fell in love with Kaia Naturals Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloths - but nothing really compares to a good balm.
If you're a skincare freak like me, you might want to consider using a facial wipe and then a cleansing balm! That kind of behaviour might generally be better reserved for us pros though.
It might be asking a bit much - you know?
What I really struggled with when it came to cleansing wipes is that I always had to use two or three to remove all my makeup - I wish they were bigger - and I ran out of them pretty quickly.
100 Percent Pure has worked really hard to improve their game - and their market share - in the luxury skincare department. They sent me this balm to test and review.
From the minute I opened the packaging - I was impressed.
My previous complaint about 100 Percent Pure was that their packaging kinda lacked that special something. It just seemed a little too fragile. The bottles would break easily or fall apart. The labeling would be slightly off centre. Things just didn't click or turn the way they should.
I chock this up to brand and business growing pains.
It frustrated me because 100 Percent Pure product formulations are generally impressive. That and I really want them to succeed in achieving their mission of offering clean beauty options to the masses!
Receiving this cleanser in the mail changed everything for me - and I was so excited.
The box is high-quality and completely recyclable. The container is frosted plastic. Solid and completely air tight - which is important because you don't want this product to oxidize.
I just love it.
And so I started washing my face.
Every single night.
In fact, this cleansing balm makes removing your makeup so easy - you might become a little addicted to it.
I guess that's not a bad thing. Your skin will certainly reap the benefits!
This balm contains some of the clean beauty industry's most powerful emollients - including olive oil and avocado butter - and that makes me really happy. I had previously created my own DIY oil cleanser to remove my makeup and it consisted of similar ingredients. It just didn't have the gorgeous smell of this product - which comes from the blood orange essential oil.
When you apply this balm to your face, it literally melts away your makeup.
A General Rule
Oil loves oil.
The idea of washing your face with pure avocado oil might seem a little frightening at first. It's important to remember though - especially if you have dry skin - that water-based detergents and cleansing products can sometimes be too harsh and irritating for sensitive skin.
When you apply this cleansing balm to your face, the oils from the balm work to attract the oils and impurities that are already sitting on your skin. When you wash the product off, the debris gets washed away with it - leaving a clean slate and a completely non-compromised moisture barrier.
This product also contains a surfactant derived from coconuts, so it does include a cleansing quality - which makes this balm more effective at removing makeup than your average oil DIY cleanser.
I've been using it for several months now without any irritation.
